Long long ago, I made a shooting board. Two features I included were an adjustable fence (can vary the angle), and a “donkey ear” for 45 degree shooting. (Note the wingnut and the slot in the fence that allows adjustment.) I used the shooting board earlier today to square the board I’m wrapping the moldings around. So, now it gets used again to fix these angles.
Much happier now.
It looks like you are using a jointer to shoot with (as I do). How do you hold it? I find the only way to do it for any length of time without killing my hand is to put quite a bit of pressure on the iron itself. I try to make sure its pretty tight and it doesn’t seem to wander, but I am wondering if there is a better way.

This is a task that I do so infrequently that I haven’t found the optimal hold. I used to hold mostly the side of the body, behind the iron. But, that allows too much wiggle. Today, I found my thumb directly on the adjuster wheel and fingers wrapped over the front of the iron. That seemed to offer enough control to but some good energy into the work.
